Support the Tri-County’s Annual Hike for Life on May 10
Will you help support the ministry of Tri-County Pregnancy & Parenting Services by taking part or supporting a participant in the annual hike on May 10. Although it's called a "hike," you can walk, run, roller-blade or even ride a bike. You can choose to hike in Crystal Lake or Grayslake. Registration begins at 8 am and the walk concludes by 11 am. This is a great event to participate in as a family. There will be face-painting and other fun events for kids!
The Registration details with sponsor forms on the back are available on the brochure rack in the foyer or online. If you can’t hike, consider donating anyway. You can do that online at www.tricountypps.org.
Men's Breakfast Planned for May 10
All men in the community are encouraged to attend the Monthly Men's Breakfast coming up on Saturday at May 10. The doors open at 7:00 am and breakfast is served at 7:30 am. At 8:00 am, following the meal, we spend some time studying how selected Bible passages apply to our lives as men in today's world. We meet early, so that we can get a great start on the weekend and have the rest of the day to tackle all weekend projects.
Battalion Mountain Biking Trip on Saturday May 10
All boys in Battalion and their families are encouraged to spend May 10 mountain biking on the John Muir hiking and biking trail system. The cost is $11 for those under 16 and $15 for 16 and over. The fee includes lunch barbecue, gas and trail pass, but bring extra money for a fast-food dinner on the way home. Call Jim Wiser at 847-526-9212 for more information, or pick up forms at the Welcome Center.
Women's Ministries Hosts Spring Tea on Saturday May 17
All adult women are invited to come join us on Saturday, May 17 from 10-12 AM for food, fellowship, fun and a "spot of tea"! Come hear what God is laying on women's hearts. Hear from God's Word what He desires women to do. Our guest speaker is Linda Page, EFCA Great Lakes District Women's Ministries Mobilizer. Plus, the will be an opportunity to meet our deaconesses, ministry heads, and hear about exciting, upcoming opportunities and activities for growth and fellowship. Leave with "fresh" vision for how you can be a part of what He is doing! All women 18 and up are invited! Walk-ins are welcome, but for planning purposes, it would help if you could R.S.V.P. to the church office by May 10.
Get Ready for a Great Praise Gathering on May 18
You won’t want to miss our next Praise Gathering that will be Sunday morning, May 18, at both of our worship services. God is very much alive and active in our world and the Good News of the gospel continues to change lives, rebuild relationships, and restore hope. Be thinking now about what you can share with your church family about how you have seen God working in your life or in your world.
Sign Up by May 21 to Participate in the First-Ever Church Talent Show
Do You Have a Talent You Want to Share? Our talent show is the place for you! Anyone in 5th grade or older is welcome to join in the first-ever church talent show on Friday, May 30 at 6:30 pm. You can sign up at the welcome center, or contact Jacqui Honeyman. The sign-up deadline is Wednesday, May 21. We are also looking for people to bring refreshments. If available, contact Victoria Shumaker via the Church Office.
Can You Help Minister in the Nursery?
Would you consider helping in this ministry even if you don’t have children in the nurseries? A well-staffed nursery allows parents to worship free of concern for their children. As we all take a turn, no one has to serve very often. The schedule is made on a 4 or 5 week rotation. The more help we have, the less often people are scheduled. Thanks for considering this! Questions? Contact nursery coordinator Julie Draeger or leave a message at the church office.
Get Help with Your Spring Cleaning Projects AND Help Our Youth Group!
Spring is finally upon us, at least according to the calendar, and that means spring-cleaning. You can help support students going to Challenge 2008 in Salt Lake City this summer by using them to do some of your spring cleaning and/or odd jobs around your house. Call Jeremy at the church if you have work to be done and we will give you the names of students interested in earning support money in this way.
Volunteers Needed for Transformation City this Summer
Many people have expressed an interest in having Transformation City available during the summer months. In order to make this happen, we need adults who are willing to help in the program. The time commitment is not huge. In fact, if enough people volunteer just once a month, we would be able to continue this program through the summer. If you’re interested, please contact Wendy or leave a message for her at the Church Office.
