“Esther: Despair to Triumph” Series Starts in Faith Builders ABF
The Faith Builders Adult Bible Fellowship begins a new study today on the intriguing story of the book of Esther, taught by Len Sabourin. This book unfolds the story of an historical event of high intrigue in a king’s court that results in a celebration that continues to this day. The story relates an adventure of a man plotting and using whatever means possible to endear himself to a very powerful and wicked king in order to gain enough power to kill his enemies. How can this evil man be stopped before he destroys thousands of people? What role will a beautiful young girl play in this event? Where is God? Join us at 9:45 in the lower fellowship hall, south end. Senior Adult Birthday Potluck Lunch Happens Tuesday, April 22 It’s time to celebrate together the joys and wisdom of birthdays! No matter when your birthday takes place, join us on Tuesday, April 22, in the lower fellowship hall for our monthly potluck lunch. Please bring a Dollar Store non-gender-specific, wrapped gift along with a dish of something to share--maybe a favorite birthday treat from your childhood or from your family's birthday parties. We also ask that you bring your own tableware. We will provide beverages and dessert (although the Fire Marshall may have something to say about how many candles we can have on the cake.) Plan Now to Participate in 57th Annual National Day of Prayer on May 1The theme for this year is "Prayer! America's Strength and Shield." This theme comes from Psalm 28:7: "The Lord is my strength and shield; my heart trusts in Him and I am helped." Join us as we join with people across the nation in praying for our local, state and national government officials. We will pray together at noon in front of the Wauconda Community Center, located on Main Street across from the Wauconda Village Hall. We also invite you to join us here at Church at 7 pm as we continue to pray for our country. Congregational Business Meeting Scheduled for Sunday, April 27 at 6:30 PMAll church members are encouraged to attend this quarterly meeting. Items of business include voting on new members, as well as updates from the Search Committees. While only church members can vote, everyone is welcome to attend to hear the updates and reports from the Committees. Before the meeting, everyone is invited (and encouraged) to meet in the Youth Room at 6:00 to pray for the upcoming meeting so that we will be fully equipped to discern and act upon God’s plans for our Church. Don’t let having young children keep you from attending because we will have the nursery open for children through age 5. Volunteers Needed for Transformation City this SummerMany people have expressed an interest in having Transformation City available during the summer months. In order to make this happen, we need adults who are willing to help in the program. The time commitment is not huge. In fact, if enough people volunteer just once a month, we would be able to continue this program through the summer. If you’re interested, please contact Wendy or leave a message for her at the Church Office. Men’s Softball Team Powers Up for the Summer We invite all men, regardless of skill or experience, to join the church softball team. The team plays Monday and Thursday evenings. Practices are on Saturday mornings. Enjoy some fun, sun and fellowship as our team plays with others from around the community. The first game is May 1. For details, please contact David Englund or leave a message for him at the church office. Father-Son Campout Weekend Scheduled for May 2-4Once again, the men and boys are going to get away from it all at the “Father-Son Campout.” This campout will take place May 2-4, which should be warm enough for fun, cool enough for campfires and early enough in the summer to avoid some of the mosquitoes! All men are invited to join us. The cost is $25 per person. To get more information, or to register, contact Dave Noga or leave a message for him at the church office. Can You Help Minister in the Nursery? Would you consider helping in this ministry even if you don’t have children in the nurseries? A well-staffed nursery allows parents to worship free of concern for their children. As we all take a turn, no one has to serve very often. The schedule is made on a 4 or 5 week rotation. The more help we have, the less often people are scheduled. Thanks for considering this! Questions? Contact nursery coordinator Julie Draeger or leave a message at the church office. Get Help with Your Spring Cleaning Projects AND Help Our Youth Group!
Spring is finally upon us, at least according to the calendar, and that means spring-cleaning. You can help support students going to Challenge 2008 in Salt Lake City this summer by using them to do some of your spring cleaning and/or odd jobs around your house. Call Jeremy at the church if you have work to be done and we will give you the names of students interested in earning support money in this way.
